Journal Name: Engaging Science, Technology, and Society (ESTS)

Publisher and Sponsor: All operational costs for ESTS are supported by the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S). 4S is a nonprofit professional association founded in 1975 as a community of scholars interested in science, technology, and medicine in social contexts.

From 2023 through 2028, ESTS is supported through the [look up what OACIP stands for] (Lyrasis). Research libraries, research institutes, and individuals can pledge financial support for ESTS through the Lyrasis webpage. Please see the Publisher and Sponsor webpage for  a list of contributing institutions.

Publication frequency: ESTS publishes articles as they are ready and then gathers all articles published through the year in a single annual volume in late December. Volumes 1-6 follow the same model. Volume 7 was published as two issues, and volumes 8-12 were published as three issues.

Indexing: ESTS has been indexed in The Directory of Open Access Journals since its inception in 2015. The journal was awarded the DOAJ seal in July 2024 to recognize the journal’s efforts to promote best-practices in scholarly open-access publishing.

ESTS is also indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection Emerging Sources Citation Index, Crossref, Google Scholar, and the European Referencing Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS).

Article processing charges (APCs): ESTS does not charge APCs or submission fees. All ESTS content is freely available upon publication.
